![]() ![]() This force me to use cover a lot and, as time passed, I began to notice how utterly useful it is and this by itself began to have a huge effect on my playing style.Įverywhere I go in the game, the first thing I look for is places to get cover behind. Bullets do a lot of damage now even with body shots. Unlike on 'Normal', I get killed easily now. Lastly, and easily the single most importance tactic, I actually use cover this time. Thirdly, I'm playing the game with vastly more patience now - probably because I'm playing as an experiment too instead of purely for fun. Secondly, I'm trying different methods of fighting when I die instead of simply charging in again repeating the same mistakes. To begin, I actually started using crouch and I actually sneak into places instead of running right in. When I played on 'Hard', it changed everything. This is the same play style I often used (to success) in other games, but it doesn't work in MP3. Instead, my play style was to run in guns blazing and I utilized Bullet Time to get out of difficult situations. When I played on 'Normal', I hardly used tactics at all. So I tried playing on 'Hard'.and I'm actually more successful than I was on 'Normal' difficulty. So I wanted to see if playing on 'Hard' would forcefully change my play style into something more efficient. This is something I traditionally don't think because I always saw it as there being no incorrect playing style so long as you're having fun. It made me wonder if my MP3 playing style was defective somehow. People who find certain games hard only do so because their playing style does not complement the game mechanics, not because the game itself is 'unfair'. Some people in there made the argument that whether a game was hard or not depended heavily on playing style. I'm the type of the guy who always plays on 'Normal' difficulty and actively hate overly hard games, so why did I do that? It was based on a Reddit submission I was in about game difficulty. Well, some time later, I decided to try again and, this time, I set the difficulty to 'Hard'. Somehow, I decided not to play MP2 but really wanted to try MP3 because I loved the commercial for it.Įventually, I gave it a try.and got frustrated because I kept dying so put it on the backlog again. So I was a big fan of the original Max Payne (MP). ![]() The old /r/patientgamers Essential Games List Please use flair to display what games you’re currently playing, not a punch line, username, tag, URL, or signature.
